LASVIT at Palazzo Serbelloni during Milan Design Week
During Milan Design Week 2016, Czech chandelier manufacturer LASVIT created a beautiful project at Fondazione Palazzo Serbelloni. They showcased new and old chandelier designs to highlight the craftsmanship of glassmaking. 18th century chandeliers that were found in the building were restored by LASVIT and shown in the magnificent halls of the palazzo. Their goal is to follow a thousand year-old legacy of the traditional Bohemian craft and bring it into the 21st century.
“The restoration project required a combination of three glassmaking techniques. These included the production and replacement of hand-cut crystal trimmings, hand-blown and cut components, as well as mold–melted and cut glass arms. The overall aim was to sustain as many original components as possible, despite such traces of age as scratches or minor damage to preserve the original character of the chandeliers.” – LASVIT
